Medicare Australia will rebate part of your consultation fee, providing a valid referral has been issued by another doctor. There will be an out of pocket expense for the consultation fee

The Medicare Safety Net is a government incentive to assist with medical expenses. Once you reach a Medicare Safety Net threshold, visits to your doctor or any investigations could cost you less for the rest of the calendar year.
The Medicare Safety Net covers a range of out-of-hospital doctor visits and tests listed on the Medicare Benefits Schedule.

Families and couples need to register even if all of your family members are listed on the one card. You need to tell Medicare who is in your family so they can link you together to track your combined medical expenses.
